VOLUNTEERS
Each summer we rely on people willing to volunteer one or more weeks of their summer to make camp happen.  We are seeking camp volunteers who are creative, outgoing, responsible and want to make a difference this summer. Volunteers should love being outside, not be afraid to act silly, enjoy being with children and want to have an unforgettable summer!

There are several ways you can volunteer this Summer:
Junior Volunteer: Students who have completed grade 8 can learn to work and lead in a Camp setting.
High School Volunteer: Students who have completed grade 9-12 can complete volunter hours and lead groups of kids.
Adult Volunteers: We are looking for people who can teach skills, lead games, teach lessons, prepare snacks or spend time with kids this summer.

Each individual must be able to provide a Criminal Reference Check (if over 16).  Also certification in the Plan to Protect® child safety workshop is made available through Saga during the training session we run for all volunteers in June..

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
My child has just finished Kindergarten.  Can they come to camp?
Unfortunately we are only able to provide camp programming for children who have completed grade one.  While we would love to provide programming for kindergarten students, we do not have the funding required to provide the staff/camper ratios required for kindergarten students.
How early in the morning can I drop my child off?
Registration begins at 9:30am each morning and there will be supervised drop-off from 9:30 - 10am.  Before 9:30am we will be preparing and setting up for the day and so will not be able to provide supervision for campers.

What type of activities do the campers do during the day?
Each week at Saga Day Camp is filled with a variety of activities.
Campers are involved in numerous activities including a weekly swim, arts & crafts, music & singing, active games, bible lessons, cooking, science and a host of special events that coordinate with our theme weeks. Field trips are scheduled most weeks and may include the Ontario Science Centre, Bronte Creek Provincial Park and Slip n' Slide days.

How do I need to be to volunter at Camp?
We have volunteer of all different ages, starting with Junior Volunteers who have completed grade 8.  We are always looking for high school stuents, university or college students, or even parents who would be willing to give one of their weeks of the summer to volunteer at camp (you can volunteer for more than one week if you want).

Is there anything for students who have completed Grade 7?
While Saga Day Camp only takes campers up until the end of Grade 6, the Saga Sports Camp has space for campers up until the end of Grade 7.  Click here for more information on Saga Sports Camp, and please contact Jamie Bay if you are in need of a scholarship to attend.

Do all of the staff have police checks?
Saga requires police checks for all staff who are over 16 years of age.  We also do reference checks for anyone who is in a leadership capacity at Saga, whether they are staff or volunteer.

Can my child just attend the day trips?
We believe it is important that we get to know your children before we take them away on a Day Trip, and so for that reason if your child has not been attending Saga before they go on a trip, they will not be permitted to participate in the trip.

Can I get a refund if my child cannot attend Camp?
Please give us 2 weeks notice if you're child will not be attending the week they are registered in order to receive your money back. After 2 weeks, no money will be refunded, although your child can transfer weeks up until the start of camp.
